In a gesture of reconciliation, Drake has announced plans for an exclusive event to apologize to individuals named Janice who may have felt offended by his song, “Janice STFU.” The Toronto rapper’s representatives have confirmed that invitations have been sent out to Janices in various cities, including New York, Los Angeles, Miami, Toronto, and Houston.
Drake took to Instagram to share details of the upcoming Janices-only apology party, where he mentioned sending physical invitations to Janices in Toronto as a formal apology gesture. Those individuals with the legal first name Janice who did not receive an invitation can still RSVP by emailing JSTFU@DRAKERELATED.COM.
To gain entry to the event, attendees must present government-issued photo ID to verify their legal first name as Janice, excluding nicknames, middle names, or last names. The origin of this event stems from Drake’s chart-topping single, “Janice STFU,” featured on his album “ICEMAN.”
The song quickly rose to the top spot on both the Billboard Global 200 and the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 charts, marking Drake’s 14th number one hit and breaking his tie with Michael Jackson for the most No. 1 hits by a male solo artist. This single was part of a surprise release of three albums, including “ICEMAN,” “Habibti,” and “Maid of Honour,” with a total of 42 tracks from the release making it onto the Hot 100 chart.
The Toronto event is scheduled to take place on Sunday, June 28, from 1-4 p.m. ET at the Cactus Club located on Adelaide St.
