A large Canadian vessel called Rt. Hon. Paul J. Martin is currently stranded in the Detroit River, situated between downtown Detroit and downtown Windsor. The ship, measuring 225 meters, was en route to Quebec City when it got stuck. The U.S. Coast Guard has confirmed that they are monitoring the situation closely, describing it as a “soft grounding.”
Fortunately, there have been no reported injuries, pollution, or disruptions to marine traffic as a result of the ship’s predicament. Despite the presence of a couple of tug boats near the vessel, the U.S. Coast Guard has indicated that due to poor visibility during the night, any plans to refloat the ship will be evaluated on Saturday morning.
