Rush Teases Surprise Performance at 2026 Juno Awards

Date:

Legendary rock band Rush has teased an upcoming surprise at the 2026 Juno Awards happening in Hamilton this Sunday. In a newsletter to fans, the band hinted at a special moment with Geddy & Alex, urging fans to join in. This mysterious message was accompanied by a link to purchase Junos tickets for March 29.

Last fall, Rush’s Geddy Lee and Alex Lifeson revealed plans for a 2026 tour, marking their first public performance with Anika Nilles, the replacement for the late drummer Neil Peart who passed away from brain cancer in 2020. Nilles, a talented German drummer known for her popular YouTube channel and previous tours with Jeff Beck in 2022, impressed Lee during the last Jeff Beck tour.

Although no specific details were provided, if Rush takes the stage at the Junos, it will be the first opportunity for fans to witness the current lineup before their upcoming world tour named Fifty Something, commencing in Los Angeles in June and including shows in Toronto, Vancouver, and Edmonton later in the year.

Formed in Toronto in 1968, Rush has a rich history, releasing their debut album in 1974 and going on to produce 19 studio albums. With numerous accolades, including 10 Juno Awards, the band’s legacy includes multiple gold and platinum albums. Recently, Rush released “Grace Under Pressure: Super Deluxe,” a box set featuring their iconic 1984 concert at Toronto’s Maple Leaf Gardens, a pinnacle of their creative prowess.

Having won Juno Awards in the past, including Best Hard Rock/Metal Album in 1991 for “Presto,” Rush’s impact on the music scene remains significant. CBC Music has reached out to the band for additional insights.
