Tory Lanez’s Conviction Appeal Denied

Date:

A California court has rejected rapper Tory Lanez’s appeal of his conviction for shooting at Megan Thee Stallion. The California 2nd District Court of Appeal upheld the 32-year-old Canadian’s guilty verdict on three felony charges without providing a detailed explanation.

In December 2022, Lanez was found guilty of assault with a semiautomatic firearm, possession of a loaded, unregistered firearm in a vehicle, and reckless discharge of a firearm. Megan testified that Lanez shot at her feet after leaving a party at Kylie Jenner’s home in July 2020, causing her to undergo surgery to remove bullet fragments. Lanez was later identified as the shooter by Megan months after the incident.

Lanez, also known as Daystar Peterson, has not yet commented on the recent ruling. His legal team may seek to appeal to the California Supreme Court. Megan’s representatives have not responded to requests for comment.

Currently serving a 10-year sentence at the California Men’s Colony in San Luis Obispo, Lanez was transferred there after being attacked by another inmate at California Correctional Institution in Tehachapi. Lanez, who started his music career in 2009 with mixtapes and went on to achieve success with top 10 albums on Billboard charts, has faced significant legal challenges related to the shooting incident.
