Tegan Quin of Tegan and Sara to Pen Marvel Pride Comic

Date:

Tegan Quin, part of the pop-indie group Tegan and Sara, has contributed to the Marvel Comics pride special one-shot, titled Wiccan & Hulking: Raid of Ultron #1, set to be released on May 27. The comic showcases the well-known gay duo Wiccan and Hulkling alongside their families, emphasizing the significance of unity and relationships during challenging circumstances.

In Quin’s narrative, brought to life by artist Luciano Vecchio, the focus is on twins Wiccan and Speed as they unite to combat Ultron while navigating their diverging paths as siblings. Expressing her excitement, Quin shared in a statement on Marvel’s website, “As a twin myself, I truly can’t think of two characters in the Marvel Universe I would have been more excited to write than Wiccan and Speed.”

The story also serves as a cathartic experience for Quin, as she draws parallels between Ultron and certain individuals encountered in the music industry over the years. Additionally, Wiccan & Hulking will feature contributions from other writers like Wyatt Kennedy, Josh Trujillo, and Zoe Tunnell, as well as artists Rachael Stott, Bradley Clayton, and Stephen Byrne.

Based in Vancouver, Quin is also advocating for Loghan Paylor’s novel titled The Cure for Drowning on Canada Reads 2026, a platform where five Canadian celebrities select one book for the nation to read, engaging in debates over four days to determine the ultimate winner. This year’s event is scheduled for April 13 to 16.

Throughout her career, Quin and her sister have launched 10 studio albums, including popular tracks like Closer, Where Does The Good Go, and Walking with A Ghost, garnering over a million album sales. Their accomplishments encompass Juno and GLAAD awards, a Governor General’s Performing Arts Award, and nominations for esteemed recognitions such as the Polaris Music Prize and the Grammy Awards.

In 2019, the twins ventured into writing beyond music, releasing a joint memoir called High School and a middle-grade graphic novel series titled Tegan & Sara: Junior High, illustrated by Tillie Walden. Moreover, they established the Tegan and Sara Foundation to provide support and investment in 2SLGBTQ+ communities, earning the Humanitarian Award at the 2024 Junos.
