The search for an aircraft that disappeared while en route from Canada’s East Coast to Greenland has entered its second day. Naviair, a Danish state-owned air traffic service provider, received a report on Saturday around 4 p.m. local time indicating that a single-engine plane was missing. The aircraft, registered under an American company, was flying from Happy Valley-Goose Bay, N.L., with one person onboard.
Search operations resumed on Sunday, primarily conducted by boat due to low-hanging clouds that have hindered aerial efforts. The search had been temporarily halted on Saturday night due to poor visibility and adverse weather conditions. Teams are focusing their search efforts on the Sermitsiaq mountain area, located 15 kilometers northeast of Nuuk, the capital of Greenland.
Happy Valley-Goose Bay, situated in central Labrador, is approximately 850 kilometers northwest of St. John’s, with the Labrador Sea separating Labrador from Greenland.
