“Rob Reiner’s Son Pleads Not Guilty to Parents’ Murder”

Date:

Nick Reiner, the 32-year-old son of renowned Hollywood figure Rob Reiner and photographer Michele Singer Reiner, formally denied allegations of fatally stabbing his parents by pleading not guilty to two counts of first-degree murder in a Los Angeles court. Represented by his new lawyer, Kimberly Greene, Nick Reiner appeared in court after being held in custody without bail following his arrest on December 14, when his parents were found dead in their Brentwood home.

During the court appearance, Nick Reiner, the third of Rob Reiner’s four children, stood behind glass in a custody area, donning brown jail attire and conversing briefly with his lawyer before the hearing commenced. The judge scheduled a preliminary hearing for April 29, where prosecutors will present evidence, and a new judge, Sam Ohta, will determine if the case proceeds to trial.

The decision regarding seeking the death penalty for Nick Reiner is still pending, as confirmed by District Attorney Nathan Hochman. Previous legal proceedings, including a change in defense lawyers, delayed the plea entry until this recent court appearance. The case has garnered significant attention, with the plea being a standard procedural move at this stage.

Former attorney Alan Jackson withdrew from representing Nick Reiner in January due to undisclosed circumstances, emphasizing Reiner’s innocence before parting ways. The legal team is awaiting a full autopsy report, with limited information on the motive behind the tragic events involving Rob Reiner, a renowned director, and Michele Singer Reiner, a photographer. The couple, known for their long-standing marriage, tragically passed away from “multiple sharp force injuries.”

Rob Reiner’s legacy in the film industry, highlighted by iconic movies like “This is Spinal Tap” and “When Harry Met Sally…,” adds to the complexity of the case surrounding his son. The ongoing legal proceedings aim to uncover the truth behind the devastating loss of the esteemed couple.
