Olivia Rodrigo draws inspiration from Lilith Fair as she launches her own all-women music festival, Daisy Chain Fields. The event, scheduled for August 29 in Irvine, California, boasts an impressive lineup featuring artists like Chappell Roan, Doechii, Katseye, Mitski, the Breeders, Die Spitz, Bikini Kill, Eli, Garbage, Quiet Light, Rachel Chinouriri, and Not for Radio. Special guests include Sarah McLachlan, Stevie Nicks, and Karen O.
In an interview with Pitchfork, Rodrigo expressed her aim to address societal issues through the festival, emphasizing the importance of inclusive lineups and the legacy of Lilith Fair in promoting such values. The singer-songwriter, known for her admiration of ’90s female artists, highlighted the impact and success of the original Lilith Fair in the documentary “Lilith Fair: Building a Mystery.”
The festival’s mission, as shared by Olivia on social media, centers around fostering joy, community, and creativity to drive meaningful change. All net proceeds from the event will be donated to charities supporting women and girls, including Planned Parenthood, Johns Hopkins Center for Indigenous Health, and the National Institute for Reproductive Health.
Olivia’s dedication to social causes extends beyond the festival, as evidenced by her non-profit initiative, Fund 4 Good, which aids organizations advocating for reproductive rights, girls’ education, and gender-based violence prevention. Fans can already access presale tickets for Daisy Chain Fields, with general admission starting at $250 US.
Amidst her recent achievements, including her third consecutive No. 1 album on the Billboard charts with “You Seem Pretty Sad for a Girl So in Love,” Olivia Rodrigo continues to make waves in the music industry and social activism spheres.
