A Snapchat video emerged showing Keyser singing along to a song containing the N-word, reportedly Roddy Ricch’s 2019 track, “The Box.”
In a familiar scenario for the show, narrator Iain Stirling announced her sudden exit during a commercial break in Thursday night’s episode, stating, “Alannah has left Casa Amor.” Fans observed a decline in Keyser’s screen time following her initial appearance on Season 8, where she seemed to connect with contestant Zach Georgiou. Some Reddit users noted her minimal presence in a recent episode.
Keyser’s removal is not an isolated incident for this season or the franchise as a whole. Prior to the show’s TV premiere, Vasana Montgomery was removed from the Season 8 cast after old footage surfaced of her using a racial slur. Similarly, in the previous season, two contestants were also expelled for separate incidents involving the use of racial slurs.
Yulissa Escobar was removed shortly after the Season 7 premiere due to resurfaced clips of her using offensive language on a podcast. She later issued an apology on Instagram, acknowledging her mistake and the impact of her words. Cierra Ortega faced a similar fate when clips of her surfaced online, leading to her removal from the show. Ortega expressed agreement with the network’s decision and accepted the consequences.
Despite attempts to reach Keyser for a comment, CBC News did not receive a response before publication. Love Island USA has faced criticism for the handling of contestant behavior, prompting warnings against cyberbullying from the production team to viewers.
