“FIFA World Cup Final to Feature Halftime Show with Shakira, Madonna, and BTS”

Date:

FIFA is set to introduce a halftime show at the upcoming World Cup final this summer, a concept popular in American football. The show will feature performances by renowned artists Shakira, Madonna, and K-pop sensation BTS at the Metlife Stadium in New Jersey on July 19.

The initiative, curated by Coldplay’s Chris Martin, aims to raise $100 million US for the FIFA Global Citizen Education Fund, dedicated to enhancing children’s access to education and soccer. The announcement was made through a video posted on Coldplay’s Instagram page, featuring Sesame Street characters Elmo and Cookie Monster, along with a surprise appearance by BTS.

While the Super Bowl is known for its star-studded halftime shows, soccer traditionally reserves halftime for player rest, with a limited break of 15 minutes set by the International Football Association Board. It remains uncertain if this break will be extended for the performance.

FIFA President Gianni Infantino emphasized the event’s significance in uniting music and football for a charitable cause. The upcoming World Cup, co-hosted by Canada, the United States, and Mexico, is expected to run through June and July, featuring a diverse lineup of performers at various ceremonies.
