“Félix Auger-Aliassime Withdraws from Moselle Open for Well-Being”

Date:

Canadian tennis prodigy Félix Auger-Aliassime has decided to withdraw from the ongoing Moselle Open to prioritize his well-being, potentially jeopardizing his chances of securing a spot in the prestigious ATP Finals. The 25-year-old athlete hailing from Montreal attributed a knee injury as the primary cause for his absence from the tournament held in Metz, France, which is part of the ATP 250 series events currently taking place.

Auger-Aliassime recently concluded a challenging campaign at the Paris Masters, culminating in a hard-fought final against world No. 1 Jannik Sinner, where he faced a 6-4, 7-6 (4) defeat last Sunday. Throughout the tournament, he showcased remarkable resilience by overcoming deficits in his initial three matches and engaging in five tiebreakers.

Following his performance, Auger-Aliassime ascended to the 8th position in the ATP rankings, surpassing Italy’s Lorenzo Musetti in the race for the final singles slot at the ATP Finals commencing in Turin, Italy this coming Sunday. Meanwhile, Musetti is participating in the Hellenic Championship in Athens this week, needing a victory in the tournament to reclaim the ATP Finals berth from Auger-Aliassime.

This year, Auger-Aliassime has accumulated an impressive record of 48 wins and 22 losses, securing three titles and a return to the top eight rankings for the first time since April 10, 2023.
