In the six weeks following the truce agreement between Israel and Hamas to end their two-year conflict, there have been frequent reports of Israeli attacks in Gaza. The ceasefire, signed on October 9 as part of President Donald Trump’s peace plan, aimed to temporarily halt the war, leaving unresolved issues for future negotiations.
Both parties have accused each other of violating the agreement and impeding progress on the peace plan. Data from Gaza’s Ministry of Health, monitored by Tech for Palestine, shows a daily count of reported deaths since October 11.
As part of the initial ceasefire phase, Israel agreed to retreat to a designated boundary known as the “yellow line” in Gaza, where they retain control of over half of the territory. Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz warned of a forceful response to any attempts to breach this line.
Recent deadly incidents have occurred both near and far from the yellow line, with reports indicating that the Israeli military has advanced the line by 300 meters in eastern Gaza City, a claim disputed by the military.
Since the ceasefire took effect on October 10, Gaza’s Health Ministry reports over 300 Palestinians killed and nearly 900 injured by Israeli forces. The Gaza Government alleges almost 500 ceasefire violations by Israel, including shootings, incursions, bombings, and infrastructure destruction.
Israel has confirmed the deaths of three soldiers since the ceasefire and claims to have targeted numerous fighters in response to attacks. The conflict has resulted in a high toll on Palestinian lives, with thousands killed and injured, stemming from the initial Hamas-led assault on southern Israel in October 2023.
