Prime Video has introduced the new romantic leads for Season 2 of the series “Off Campus,” with Canadian actors Stephen Kalyn and Mika Abdalla taking on the roles of Dean Di Laurentis and Allie Hayes. Kalyn plays the charming hockey defenceman, originating from Markham, Ont., with a background in hockey. Abdalla portrays Allie, a student at Briar University who works at the college bar Malone’s, frequented by Dean and his hockey teammates.
The streaming platform unveiled this announcement through a promotional video and images, revealing the show’s shift in focus to follow the book-based structure of “Off Campus.” Each season, inspired by Elle Kennedy’s popular novels, revolves around a different couple. Season 1 adapted “The Deal,” featuring Hannah Wells (Ella Bright) and Garrett Graham (Belmont Cameli), while Season 2 is anticipated to draw from the third book, “The Score,” which delves into Dean and Allie’s relationship.
Louisa Levy, the creator and co-showrunner, expressed enthusiasm for continuing Dean and Allie’s romance as the central focus of the upcoming season, emphasizing the ongoing importance of Hannah and Garrett in the storyline. Additionally, new cast members include Philippa Soo, known for “Hamilton” and “Doctor Odyssey,” joining as a guest director in the university drama department where Allie is a student, and India Fowler, from “Fear Street: Prom Queen” and “The Strangers: Chapter 1,” portraying Grace Ivers, the love interest of hockey player John Logan (Antonio Cipriano) and the key character in “The Mistake.”
Returning series regulars include Bright, Cameli, Cipriano, and Jalen Thomas Brooks. “Off Campus” has proven to be a hit on Prime Video, currently ranking as the top show on Amazon Prime Video in Canada. With its premiere of all eight episodes on May 13, the series attracted 36 million viewers globally within the first 12 days, establishing itself as one of Prime Video’s successful debut seasons.
