“California Authorities Seek Public Help in Banquet Hall Shooting”

Date:

Authorities in California are seeking information from the public to apprehend the perpetrator behind a shooting incident at a banquet hall in Stockton that resulted in the deaths of four individuals, including three children, and left several others injured. The tragic incident occurred during a family gathering at the banquet hall, claiming the lives of three children aged 8, 9, and 14, as well as a 21-year-old individual. San Joaquin County Sheriff Patrick Withrow disclosed that the shooting took place while approximately 100 people were present at the venue. Investigators suspect that the gunfire extended outside the hall and may have involved multiple shooters.

Sheriff Withrow stated that eleven individuals sustained injuries, with at least one person in critical condition. He urged anyone with relevant information, cellphone footage, or eyewitness testimonies to come forward and assist in the investigation. The sheriff emphasized the community’s responsibility to reject such violent acts, especially when innocent children are targeted, urging individuals to report any pertinent details to law enforcement.

Mayor Christina Fugazi shared details about the victims, noting that one of the deceased children was an eight-year-old who attended a local school and had a parent working for the Stockton Unified School District. She expressed deep sorrow over the loss of young lives and highlighted the emotional toll on the victims’ families. The mayor assured that counseling services would be available at city schools to support those affected by the tragedy.

A relative identified one of the adult victims, 21-year-old Susano Archuleta, who was fatally shot at the scene. The shooting, described as a “targeted incident” by authorities, occurred shortly before 6 p.m. inside the banquet hall, which is situated in proximity to other businesses in Stockton. The city, with a population of 320,000 and located approximately 65 kilometers south of Sacramento, has faced a high homicide rate, with 54 homicides reported in 2024. The current year has witnessed 34 killings as of October, based on city data.
