Renowned author Freida McFadden has surprised her fans by revealing her true identity as Sara Cohen. Cohen, known for her captivating psychological thrillers like “The Housemaid” and “Never Lie,” had previously kept her real name under wraps. In a recent interview with USA Today, she expressed her desire to no longer conceal her identity and put an end to the speculation surrounding her persona.
Despite using a pseudonym and wearing disguises during public appearances, Cohen disclosed that her reasons were simple, mentioning her lack of hairstyling skills and the need for glasses. Apart from her successful writing career, Cohen also works as a doctor specializing in brain disorders. She had kept her dual identity a secret to avoid any complications with her medical profession, but eventually decided to reveal the truth as she transitioned away from full-time medical work in 2023.
Even with her true identity revealed, Cohen plans to continue publishing under her pen name, emphasizing that her authenticity and connection with her readers have always been genuine. Since she began publishing in 2013, Cohen’s books have achieved widespread acclaim, notably with “The Housemaid” which was later adapted into a successful film featuring Sydney Sweeney and Amanda Seyfried. With numerous bestsellers and film adaptations under her belt, Cohen’s literary success shows no signs of slowing down, with a new adaptation titled “The Housemaid’s Secret” set for release in 2027, starring Kirsten Dunst alongside Sydney Sweeney.
