A woman from Florida has been charged with attempted murder and multiple felony counts, including assault with a semi-automatic firearm, for allegedly firing gunshots at Rihanna’s residence in Los Angeles. The incident occurred outside the singer’s gated home in Beverly Hills, where Rihanna, her partner A$AP Rocky, their three children, and her mother were present. The accused, Ivanna Lisette Ortiz, appeared in court before Judge Theresa McGonigle in the Superior Court of Los Angeles County.
Ortiz, represented by Deputy Public Defender Jamarcus Bradford, initially pleaded not guilty but later postponed the arraignment to March 25. She is being held on a bail of $1.8 million US. A protective order was issued for Ortiz to stay away from Rihanna, A$AP Rocky, and their residence, and she is prohibited from possessing firearms or ammunition.
According to Los Angeles police Chief Jim McDonnell, there were 10 individuals at Rihanna’s home during the shooting. Ortiz, believed to have traveled from Florida, was apprehended after the incident. Public records indicate that she worked as a licensed speech pathologist in Orlando for over ten years.
The police recovered a weapon following Ortiz’s arrest, but any potential connection to Rihanna has not been disclosed. Requests for comments from Rihanna’s representatives and Ortiz’s legal team were unanswered. Visual evidence from KABC-TV showed bullet holes in Rihanna’s property, with police dispatch recordings indicating ten shots were fired.
Rihanna, a nine-time Grammy Award winner known for chart-topping hits like “We Found Love” and “Umbrella,” recently welcomed her third child, Rocki Irish Mayers, with A$AP Rocky in September 2025.
