In Los Angeles County, singer D4vd is under investigation by a grand jury regarding the death of a 14-year-old girl. The girl’s decomposed body was discovered in a Tesla registered to the singer, which was found abandoned in the Hollywood Hills. Court documents indicate that prosecutors are focusing on the 20-year-old alt-pop artist, born in Houston as David Burke, through grand jury subpoenas requesting testimony from three of his relatives.
The subpoenas, initially sealed in California, were made public in Texas following an appeal by the singer’s family members. The documents suggest that the investigation targets the singer for potentially committing a murder offense under California law.
The Tesla, linked to D4vd, was registered at the address of his family members who were summoned to testify. Although authorities have not officially labeled D4vd as a suspect, the body of Celeste Rivas Hernandez, found in the vehicle, had been decomposed for an extended period. The investigation revealed disturbing details, including the discovery of severed body parts in bags within the car.
Despite the ongoing investigation, D4vd had initially continued performing shows but eventually canceled his concerts and a European tour after his connection to the case surfaced in the media. The singer’s popularity had been on the rise, especially among Gen Z fans, following his viral success on TikTok and chart-topping hits like “Romantic Homicide.” His record label, Darkroom and Interscope Records, had released his EPs, “Petals to Thorns” and “The Lost Petals.”
As the investigation unfolds, authorities and the District Attorney’s Office have refrained from commenting on the case. Meanwhile, the findings of the autopsy and the exact cause of the young girl’s death remain undisclosed due to legal restrictions.
