“Scooby-Doo Superfan’s Massive Memorabilia Collection Unveiled”

Date:

Alexa Lawlor, a 28-year-old resident of Regina, has amassed a vast collection of Scooby-Doo memorabilia over the years. The exact number of items in her collection and the total amount spent on acquiring them remain unknown, as Lawlor has not yet had the collection formally appraised. For her, the essence of collecting lies in the stories behind each item rather than mere accumulation.

Lawlor’s fascination with Scooby-Doo traces back to her childhood when she was captivated by a toy her brother owned. Growing up in the late 1990s and early 2000s, Scooby-Doo merchandise was a prevalent gift choice due to the popularity of the live-action movies during that time. Lawlor’s collection expanded rapidly, occupying significant space in her home, with items displayed across multiple rooms.

Her collection includes a diverse range of vintage memorabilia such as jigsaw puzzles, VHS tapes, dolls, figurines, action figures, and stuffed animals. Notably, Lawlor possesses unique items like character reference guides used by Hanna-Barbera staff, a character model sheet for pose consistency, a Scooby-Doo film storyboard, and a framed comic book ad believed to be one of the earliest promotions for the original show.

Lawlor’s collecting adventures extend beyond physical stores, as she frequents online marketplaces, second-hand shops, flea markets, and garage sales to discover new additions. Notable instances include persuading a man at the Calgary Stampede to sell her a giant Scooby-Doo toy he had just won, showcasing her determination in expanding her collection.

In addition to her collecting passion, Lawlor hosts a podcast titled “The Unmasked History of Scooby-Doo,” where she interviews various individuals connected to the franchise. Leveraging her journalism background and love for the show, Lawlor offers listeners insights into the behind-the-scenes world of Scooby-Doo, including engaging discussions with iconic voice actors.

Lawlor’s deep connection to the Scooby-Doo franchise stems from the show’s ability to take viewers on an immersive journey within each 22-minute episode. She highlights the relatability of the characters and the blend of mystery and humor as key elements that have resonated with her since childhood, making the franchise a timeless source of joy and comfort.
