Date:

Brad Arnold, the frontman of the renowned rock group 3 Doors Down, passed away on Saturday at the age of 47 after battling Stage 4 kidney cancer. The band confirmed his peaceful passing in his sleep, surrounded by loved ones, following his brave fight against the disease.

Formed in Mississippi in 1995, 3 Doors Down achieved a Grammy nomination four years later for their hit song “Kryptonite,” written by Arnold during a math class at the age of 15. Their debut album, “The Better Life,” sold over six million copies, with another Grammy nod coming in 2003 for the track “When I’m Gone.”

The band lauded Arnold for reshaping mainstream rock music by merging post-grunge accessibility with heartfelt songwriting that resonated with audiences. Their discography includes six albums, with their latest release, “Us and the Night,” hitting the shelves in 2016, featuring popular singles like “Loser,” “Duck and Run,” and “Be Like That,” featured in the soundtrack of the film “American Pie 2.”

During the promotion of their fifth album, “Time of My Life,” Arnold expressed gratitude for his enduring music career, stating, “If you do something as long as we’ve done it, you can’t help but get better at it, you know?” In 2017, 3 Doors Down performed at the inaugural concert for U.S. President Donald Trump.

Last May, Arnold revealed his cancer diagnosis, disclosing that clear cell renal carcinoma had spread to his lungs, leading to the band canceling a planned summer tour. 3 Doors Down paid tribute to Arnold’s musical legacy, emphasizing the lasting impact of his performances on audiences worldwide.
