“Regina to Host 2027 Grey Cup at New Mosaic Stadium”

Date:

The Grey Cup game will make a comeback to Regina in 2027, marking the second occasion in five years that the CFL final will be held in the capital city and home of the Saskatchewan Roughriders.

Premier Scott Moe expressed excitement about the upcoming event, emphasizing the strong fan base and community pride in Saskatchewan for their football team. Craig Reynolds, president of the Saskatchewan Roughriders, acknowledged the support from the City of Regina and the province in securing the 2027 Grey Cup.

Regina Mayor Chad Bachynski’s spokesperson revealed that the City of Regina has allocated $1.5 million for the Grey Cup, covering various expenses such as transit shuttles and police support. Bachynski assured that whether attendees are long-time fans or first-time visitors, they will be welcomed like family, promising an unforgettable experience at the 2027 Grey Cup.

The 2027 Grey Cup is set to take place on November 7, 2027, a week earlier than usual, at the new Mosaic Stadium. This will be the fifth championship held in Regina and the second at the new stadium since the Roughriders’ inception in 1910.

CFL Commissioner Stewart Johnston praised the collaborative effort put forth by the Saskatchewan Roughriders, the province, the City of Regina, and local hotel operators in their bid package. He commended the quality, thoughtfulness, and football culture evident in Saskatchewan’s bid.

A notable feature of the 2027 Grey Cup festival is that it will be entirely indoors, including the street festival. This unique aspect was highlighted as a significant selling point by Johnston, offering attendees the convenience of enjoying the festivities without worrying about the weather.

While the specific competing bids were not disclosed, Johnston emphasized the exceptional nature of Saskatchewan’s bid, describing it as “truly outstanding.”
