Canada’s hit gay hockey drama, “Heated Rivalry,” has been greenlit for a second season. Bell Media has confirmed that the show, created by Jacob Tierney, will be returning to Crave and HBO Max for additional episodes. The series, featuring Hudson Williams and Connor Storrie as NHL stars Shane Hollander and Ilya Rozanov involved in a clandestine romance, has gained immense popularity recently, with its steamy scenes making waves on platforms like TikTok.
The adaptation by Crave has become its most-viewed original series debut in the first week, although specific viewership figures were not disclosed. The producers have not revealed the direction of the upcoming season, with the finale set to air on December 26. “Heated Rivalry” is inspired by Rachel Reid’s “Game Changers” book series.
Internationally, the show has secured new distribution agreements, with Sky in New Zealand and Movistar Plus+ in Spain acquiring the rights outside of North America. HBO Max will hold the show’s rights in various Asian regions, such as Singapore, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Thailand, and the Philippines, while deals for other territories, including the UK, are in the pipeline.
