“2025 U Sports Women’s Soccer Championship: Tournament Highlights”

Date:

Looking for some exciting sports action to fill the void left by the World Series? McMaster University in Hamilton is gearing up to host the 2025 U Sports Women’s Soccer Championship this week, featuring top university teams.

The tournament will kick off on Thursday and run through Sunday, with the championship match scheduled for 5 p.m. on the final day. The games will be live-streamed by CBC Sports.

According to the McMaster Marauders website, eight teams will be vying for the prestigious Gladys Bean Memorial Trophy. Here is the seeding of the participating teams:

  1. University of British Columbia (UBC)
  2. University of Montréal
  3. University of Toronto
  4. Cape Breton University
  5. Laval University
  6. Trinity Western University
  7. McMaster University
  8. University of Guelph

UBC aiming for third consecutive title

The UBC Thunderbirds are eyeing a historic third consecutive national title and have conceded only one goal throughout the season, as announced by McMaster in a news release. A win would solidify their position as the first program in modern U Sports women’s soccer history to achieve a three-peat.

The McMaster Marauders are back in the national championship scene for the first time since 2018, when they secured the fourth position.

Viewers can catch the matches on CBC.ca/sports, CBC Sports YouTube channel, and CBC Gem app. The games will take place at Ron Joyce Stadium, with ticket prices ranging from $5 to $25 depending on the day and ticket category.
